GREEN ECO FRIENDLY
Green can mean different things to different people. For some it means simply environmentally friendly and to others means living a life that is not dangerous to the health of people or animals. Direct Democracy is the website that promotes green eco friendly products whether it is green house products or anything that does not contain synthetic elements. When green eco friendly products are used they are not only healthy for the environment and include no toxins, but it can be recycled to help save land fills, and one can do everything possible to live healthy and reduce the impact on planet earth. Direct Democracy emphasises that by living green and going green one reduces any negative impact on the planet in all possible ways. Direct Democracy has defined green eco-friendly which is synonymous to goods and services, laws and guidelines and policies considered to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment. To make consumer aware, Direct Democracy has marked the environmentally friendly goods and services with eco-labels. Direct Democracy has always appealed to people to be green eco-friendly as well as to use eco-friendly products. Direct Democracy has incorporated in its website 10 Green Living Tips for eco- friendly living :
1 To choose organic produce when one can protect oneself from hazardous chemicals. Non-organic apples, imported grapes, bell peppers and strawberries, in particular, have large amounts of pesticide residue that has been linked to neurological disabilities in children, Parkinson’s disease and Cancer.
2 To use non-toxic personal care products. Some antibacterial soaps and toothpastes contain a chemical called triclosan that can accumulate inside the human body and may harm health.
3 To use non-toxic and natural household cleaning products. Many common everyday chemicals can harm health, causing headaches, skin rashes, eye irritation, coughing, wheezing and more.
4 To choose flea pills for dogs and cats instead of flea collars leave behind hazardous chemicals that can get on skin, furniture and floors and linger in home for a long time. Many of the chemicals have been linked to neurological problems such as learning disabilities in children and Parkinson’s.
5 To avoid chlorinated household products such as paper towels, toilet paper, and coffee filters because studies have linked chlorine and chlorination by-products to Cancer. Unbleached and recycled products can be found at many stores. Buying tissue paper products made from post-consumer content also helps curb global warming pollution and save forests, water and energy.
6 To drastically cut the amount of energy computer and monitor use by putting them in sleep mode when they aren’t in use. To avoid screen-savers – those moving images on the monitor that can cost an extra bucks or more of electricity.
7 To plug television, computer equipment, game consoles and stereos into power strips that can be switched off at night or when not in use.
8 To replace regular light bulbs with a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). A CFL costs more upfront than a standard bulb, but in the end can save electricity during its lifetime and it keeps 1 ton of global warming pollution out of the air.
9 To inflate tires once a month or as necessary. If the tires are properly inflated, several billion gallons of gasoline can be saved a year which will help curb global warming pollution.
10 To swap a flight for the train. Air travel is one of the fastest growing sources of global warming pollution. The average jet pumps almost 1 ton of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere for every passenger it carries.

ECO-PRODUCTS
Direct Democracy has always promoted eco friendly products. The eco-friendly products help to keep the environment clean and green. Some eco products that have been caught by the fancy of people are handmade products, eco-vehicles, eco furniture, eco fan, eco shoes, eco friendly paints, solar products, handicraft products, paper bags and notebooks. The objective of the use of handmade paper is to reduce the amount of paper waste generated by offices, to reduce the demand for paper made from virgin wood fibre, to save planet earth from global warming and greenhouse effect, to stop deforestation and to save the forest reserves. Direct Democracy also lays emphasis on the use of paper bag which is always environment friendly and easily biodegradable. Hence to save the environment and earth from the catastrophic plastics, paper made products should be used. In addition to appearance, price and performance, consumers in the 21st century should also regard low emissions, low noise and low fuel consumption. Direct Democracy talks about eco-vehicles which improves road safety as well as the quality of the local and global environment and saves fuel and cost. Additionally eco-vehicle provides direct benefits to the drivers and the passengers-more comfort and a relaxed atmosphere . Eco-vehicles reduces noise pollution as well as air, land and water pollution. Direct Democracy also talks about eco-furnitures made with endurable materials can be easily separated and recycled, representing an easier, softer way to go green. Currently the industry and the market is packed with eco-furnitures made of wheat panels, sunflower board, aluminium, polywoods, wrought irons, metals, stones, post consumer materials, all of which are available in attractive designs and colours. Eco fans don’t need electricity or any external batteries to work as the thermoelectric module works a small generator to power the fan. This environment friendly fan is capable of distributing the warm in whole of the house. With the help of Direct Democracy one comes across eco shoes. Gone are the days when shoes were made from leather which were extracted from animals resulting in killing of thousands of wildlife reserves. The eco shoes are made of recycled rubber, recycled plastics, waste products, textiles and other synthetic products. The eco shoes are the shoes which can be recycled and reused. Today, to save the eco system there are paints with non-toxic elements. There are more than 10,000 chemicals that can be used in conventional paints and paints and hence the answer is eco-paints. The eco-paints are produced from fewer than 250 chemical components and more than 98% of these chemicals are naturally derived from plant sources and minerals. The raw materials that are low in toxic substances, renewable and feature a low environmental footprint. In the eco-paints, the paints, stains, thinners and waxes are made from naturally derived raw materials including citrus peel extracts, essential oils, seed oils, tree resins, inert mineral fillers, tree and bee waxes, lead free dryers and natural pigments. Direct Democracy also talks about solar energy. Solar energy is a flow from the sun to the biosphere. Today there are several solar power products in the market for our home and office use. Solar products include items such as solar hot water heaters, solar heating systems, solar panels, solar flashlights, solar radios, solar calculators, solar battery chargers, solar lanterns, solar lighting, solar car batteries and much more.

CONSUMER POWER
With a website like Direct Democracy, the power is back in the hands of the consumer. Earlier consumers were a gullible lot who were easily misled by the companies of their hard earned money by misleading advertising. Thanks to Direct Democracy, all this has changed for better. The era of consumer power has emerged. Direct Democracy has become all pervading in every area of life and everyone who has the access to the website Direct Democracy will not fall into the trap of companies that make big claims about their products being eco-friendly only to rob the consumer of its money. Direct Democracy which is a strong believer of green educates the unsuspecting consumer about these fake products. Kudos to Direct Democracy! The consumer has once again become the king and rightly so because the consumer spends its money on items to get value/service out of the money. If a consumer is cheated then the consumer can approach Consumer Forum, Consumer Court etc so that their grievances are heard and justice is meted out to them and a fitting punishment is given to the defaulter company. More power to the consumer. Consumer is no longer an ignorant lot but is well aware of the consumer rights and can fight for its right. The credit goes to Direct Democracy for making the consumer aware of its power. Hence the consumer has been anointed the new king who refuses to be befooled by the smart companies. Infact the consumer has outsmarted and outwitted these companies who try to persuade the consumer upon buying their products. This has happened all because of Direct Democracy. The consumer is not as vulnerable as it used to be. Direct Democracy in its website mentions what a consumer can do if it is taken for a ride. These suggestions and ideas have really worked among the consumer and now they are aware of their rights. Direct Democracy therefore has given teeth to the consumer to exercise their power. The consumer earlier was used to be cheated by the companies but now the scenario has completely changed. With the new found power, the consumer is ready to take on the defaulter company at any time and at any place. Three cheers to Direct Democracy for making this possible and spreading awareness about the consumer power. The consumer has now woke up from deep slumber and has cut to size the defaulter companies and shops that are so adept at cheating. Ignorance is no longer a bliss and the consumer has learnt this through Direct Democracy and because of this initiative taken by Direct Democracy, once again the shops and the companies have started acknowledging the fact that the consumer is always right. So there are no more tears in the eyes of the consumer and neither the consumer is repentant of spending extra bucks for a product because he/she knows that everything is fine and the money spent on the item is safe and there are no hidden costs or extra costs.
